Charles Spurgeon on "small things not to be despised"

Charles Spurgeon on “small things not to be despised”

Woe unto that man who despises “the day of small things” in the Church of Christ, or who despises “the day of small things” in any individual believer, for it is God’s day, it is a day out of which great things will yet come; and therefore he that despises it really despises his Maker’s work, and despises the great and glorious things which are to come out of the small things which are at present…

Matthew 5:5

This past week I have been listening to R.C. Sproul preach on the sermon on the mount and also reading through it with his preaching. Today I started to look more closely at Matthew 5:5 which states, “blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth.” Most Christians are familiar with this verse but I wonder how many of us have actually really thought about what this verse means. Well today…

Calvin on the Gospel Times

There is one passage in the writings of Paul, from which above all others a clear and certain definition of the word Gospel may be obtained, where he tells us that it…

was promised by God in the Scriptures, through the prophets, concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was made of the seed of David according to the flesh, and declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the…

Kobe Bryant dies today...

Kobe Bryant dies today…

This morning I woke up, like my normal Lord’s day. I spent some time in the Word before getting ready, like my normal Lord’s day. I got all prepared to worship the Lord and drove to my local church. I attended “band” practice, like my normal Lord’s day. This morning I had time to attend our prayer morning. I don’t know why but today was a very somber day for me. (It may be because I found out…

Earth: Only 6,000 years old?

by Rusty Fulp on 5 March 2017

When I’m out on the road speaking, one of the questions that sometimes comes up during a Question and Answer session is: “How you we believe the earth is only 6,000 years old with all the evidence saying otherwise?”

From Enmity to Amity

This blog post will be on the topic of redemption and what it looks like. It won’t be an exhaustive dealing with all aspects of redemption obviously. Just two ideas that I was thinking on and wanted to express in writing.

The idea of redemption takes us from enmity with God to amity with God. The scripture and life teach us that we are naturally at enmity with God. God, to the natural man, is…
